Vessel survey

Deri Jones & Associates Ltd provide a range of survey services to Naval architects and boatyards. Working with the latest laser survey equipment, we can record the shape and structure of an existing vessel to the highest degree of accuracy. Services include:

TugScanning_04Lines lifting: Using the latest in laser scanning, we can swiftly capture a hull shape and create "As built" lines plans and 3D IGES models. The non contact nature of the service maximises speed and minimises the need for scaffolding, access platforms or support from yards. With a typical range of 20m per scan, even large vessels can be captured rapidly.

marinepoints01Plate thickness and paint/gelcoat measurements: Locations of readings can be accurately tied in to the 3D model using total station data. Our survey team can carry out these readings while working with the scanner, giving maximum efficiency on site.

StormcatsScanning_18Structural recording: Internal structure can be added to the hull data and tied together accurately to give an immensely accurate model of the vessel. Locations of bulkheads, frames and services can be truly represented, acting as a starting point for redesign, extension or asset management. From the scan data, CAD models can be created, integrating the survey data with the likes of AVEVA, CATIA, Ship constructor or Solidworks.

vt12Fairing and hull verification: With the ability to compare the built hull to the original design model, we can provide maps of relative fairness and report on the accuracy of build. This gives the ability to minimise the quantity of fairing compound, reducing weight, waste and labour involved in the fairing process.
